December in Malaysia:Wedding and circumcised,Rain and Flood...

December in Malaysia means school holidays. That also means a time for Wedding ceremony and circumcised ritual. Not also mention flood seasons. One of the reasons why couple often married on December on this rainy seasons was it was chill at night. It was only a theory and not applicable to many wedding couple.Wedding and circumcised had been a part of Malay Culture from hundred years ago.

Well, circumcised not only for men but to women also. But,basically women had done circumcised when they still baby.Circumcised means the removal of some or all of the foreskin (prepuce) from the penis(for men).In Malay culture, the boy that are about being circumcised will be carry on the shoulder and take a tour around the village to show that this is the boy that about to be circumcised.the children then will asked to bath in a river,it was proposedly to easier the "cut".In malay culture back then, the family will held a feast to pray their kid safety.Usually on the following day,the kids will ask to bathe in river. After that, the ceremony will take place. After the ceremony ended, the kids were said as a young man now...

The wedding ceremony back then were a collaboration between the villager and the house owner. All the works were done together. Some part of Malaysia were still doing the wedding ceremony together.Especially the rural area/villages.It been a tradition that a man will cook on that day, while the woman will help to insist the man.The wedding started a few day earlier with henna night. In that night, the ladies will put henna on their hands. On the day of the ceremony, the ceremony usually started with" Khatam al-quran",and the recital of" doa selamat, berzanji" and others. After that the wedding ceremony takes place, with the arrival of the bride with the hit of "kompang".In Johor,if the bride is the girls ,the man who came to the house must given a "tol" to certain people until he is pass to meet his bride..

December also means the beginning  of the monsoon seasons in Malaysia.Usually the rain will pour out a lot quantity of rains and will be caused flood in certains part of Malaysia. The children were usually enjoys this rains.Well, because of  school holiday children got plenty of leisure so they this opportunity to play in the rains.I still remember the big flood that happens on 2008 at johor here segamat almost lost connections from land roads...

Happy Holidays....
